CITY OF LAS VEGAS SENIOR ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

The city of Las Vegas active adult and senior centers offer exercise, fitness, craft, arts, dance, music
and computer classes; cards; games; discussion and social groups; luncheons; sports; and special
events Monday through Friday to residents age 50 and better. A listing of classes and activities is
published in the Beyond the Neon Leisure Guide, available in the centers and online at www.
lasvegasparksandrec.com. All activities are subject to change. Most activities require $2 annual
membership to city of Las Vegas Senior Citizen Programs, available at all senior and active adult
centers.

Ongoing Las Vegas Senior Activities and Events

New Walk with Ease Program (ages 50+)
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 p.m.
Cost: $5 drop in, or free with fitness pass purchase.

Join this new walking group that is part of the Arthritis Foundation program.

Lieburn Free Matinee Movies (ages 50+)
Wednesdays, 1:30 p.m.

East Las Vegas Free Matinee Movies (ages 50+)
Fridays, 1 p.m.

Upcoming Las Vegas Senior Activities and Events

Las Vegas Senior Idol Showcase Audition Packets Available (ages 50+)
Beginning April 1.
Las Vegas Senior Center, 451 E. Bonanza Road, 702-229-6454.
Pick up your audition application packet and plan to audition as an individual or group in dance, singing,
comedy, musical instruments and more for the annual Las Vegas Senior Idol Talent Showcase. Call 702-
229-6454 for an application packet, available starting April 1. Once your completed packet is received
you will receive an invitation to audition with a date and time. Auditions will be scheduled May 5-7. The
show will be held Thursday, June 11.

Cooking with Chef June (ages 50+)
Wednesday, April 1, 10 a.m. to noon.
Cost: $5 per person each day.

County Fair Tour (ages 50+)
Thursday, April 9, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Advance registration required.
Cost: $20.

Let's go to the fair in Logandale! Bus and entrance fees included. Bring additional money for food and

away, enjoy food, entertainment and more! Semi-formal event.

Finding Balance Workshop (ages 50+)
Tuesday, April 28, 10:30 a.m. Advance registration required.
Cost: $5.

Dr. Biberman will lead this discussion on how to find balance between yourself and others to improve

Running for the Roses Kentucky Derby Luncheon (ages 50+)
Friday, May 1, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Advance registration required.
Cost: $5.

Enjoy a wonderful luncheon prepared by Chef June. Wear your fabulous and beautiful hat and strut
down the runway. No hat? No worries –take the Hat Decorating class April 29 at 1:30 pm. Registration
open from April 1 until filled.

Cinco de Mayo Luncheon (ages 50+)
Tuesday, May 5, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Cost: $5.

Music in the Park (ages 50+)

Enjoy a fiesta in the park, featuring a taco bar and live music by the Never Too Late band. Wear

“Pedal Your Way to Safety” Bicycle Event (ages 12+)
Saturday, May 16, 7:30 a.m.

May is National Bike Month and to celebrate, Councilman Steve Ross is joining forces with the Regional
Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada to sponsor “Pedal You Way to Safety.” This three-hour
event will provide instruction and guidance in the basic principles of cycling on the open road. It’s a
combination of classroom discussion, parking lot activities and hands-on training for cycling in traffic.
Required equipment:  Two-wheeled bicycle in good working condition, bicycle helmet, appropriate attire
for cycling outside. Registration opens April 27. Call 702-229-1702 for registration and information.

2015 Senior Health & Fitness Day PLUS Health Fair (ages 50+)
Wednesday, May 27, 8:30 a.m.; check-in begins at 8:15 a.m.
Free with a current $2 annual city of Las Vegas Senior Programs membership.

Join the Centennial Hills Active Adult Center and Centennial Hills YMCA for a day all about health,
fitness, fun and you!  There will be a variety of free activities to choose from, including cardio classes,
line dancing, low-impact aerobics, health-related seminars and a health fair with vendors, all designed to
help you live a healthier life. All participants also will receive a complimentary boxed lunch provided by
Southwest Medical Associates. Advance registration required; registration opens May 4. The first 50
people to register will receive a free T-shirt.
