CITY OF LAS VEGAS SENIOR ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

The city of Las Vegas active adult and senior centers offer exercise, fitness, craft, arts, dance, music
and computer classes; cards; games; discussion and social groups; luncheons; sports; and special
events Monday through Friday to residents age 50 and better. A listing of classes and activities is
published in the Beyond the Neon Leisure Guide, available in the centers and online at www.
lasvegasparksandrec.com. All activities are subject to change. Most activities require $2 annual
membership to city of Las Vegas Senior Citizen Programs, available at all senior and active adult
centers.

Ongoing Las Vegas Senior Activities and Events

New Walk with Ease Program (ages 50+)
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 p.m.
Cost: $5 drop in, or free with fitness pass purchase.

Join this new walking group that is part of the Arthritis Foundation program.

Lieburn Free Matinee Movies (ages 50+)
Wednesdays, 1:30 p.m.

Popcorn and water will be provided. Call 229-1600 to learn which movies will be shown.

East Las Vegas Free Matinee Movies (ages 50+)
Fridays, 1 p.m.
East Las Vegas Community Center, 250 N. Eastern Ave., (702) 229-1515.

Lieburn Breakfast (ages 50+)
Friday, Aug. 1, 8:30 a.m.
Cost: $4.
Lieburn Senior Center, 6230 Garwood Ave., 702-229-1600.
Staff will prepare a custom omelet of your design. Bacon, juice, coffee and fruit also will be served.
Advance registration required by July 29.

Pancake Breakfast (ages 50+)
Wednesday, Aug. 6, 8:30 to 10 a.m.
Cost: $4, with current $2 annual membership to city of Las Vegas Senior Citizen Programs.

Enjoy a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, bacon and a cup of juice, milk or coffee! Advance registration

End of Summer Igloo Luncheon (ages 50+)
Wednesday, Aug. 6, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Basic Computers (ages 50+)
Tuesday, Aug. 12-26, noon to 2 p.m. Advance registration required; registration opens July 21.
Cost: $30 with annual $2 Active Adult/Senior Programs membership.

Left-Hander’s Lunch (ages 50+)
Thursday, Aug. 14, 11:30 a.m.
Cost: $5, with current $2 annual membership to city of Las Vegas Senior Citizen Programs.

It’s time to show off your left-handed skills.  Enjoy a fabulous homemade meal, including dessert. Left-
handed or not, this will be a fun luncheon for you! Advance registration required.

Chillin’ with Santa (ages 50+)
Friday, Aug. 15, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Cost: $5.

It may be five months before Christmas, but Santa is making a special appearance at Derfelt Senior
Center for the Rock Around the Schoolhouse ‘50s-style back-to-school supply drive and luncheon.

Hawaiian Luau (ages 50+)
Tuesday, Aug. 26, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Cost: $5.

Experience Hawaiian culture, food, music, dance and attire! Wear your best Hawaiian outfit to enter our
“Best Dressed Hawaiian” contest. Come see who wins the grand prize! Advance registration required by

AARP Smart Drive (ages 50+)
Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1 to 5 p.m. Advance registration required; registration opens July 21.
Cost: $2 Active Adult/Senior Programs annual membership plus $15/AARP member or $20/non-member
(check made payable to AARP the day of the class)

Senior Information Workshop (ages 50+)
Thursday, Aug. 28, 10 a.m. to noon.
Free admission and open to the public.

Hear presentations on Social Security Benefits, Medicare, Senior Safety, Hospice Care and the
