CITY OF LAS VEGAS SENIOR ACTIVITIES AND EVENTS

The city of Las Vegas active adult and senior centers offer exercise, fitness, craft, arts, dance, music
and computer classes; cards; games; discussion and social groups; luncheons; sports; and special
events Monday through Friday to residents age 50 and better. A listing of classes and activities is
published in the Beyond the Neon Leisure Guide, available in the centers and online at www.
lasvegasparksandrec.com. All activities are subject to change. Most activities require $2 annual
membership to city of Las Vegas Senior Citizen Programs, available at all senior and active adult
centers.

Ongoing Las Vegas Senior Activities and Events

New Walk with Ease Program (ages 50+)
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 12:30 p.m.
Cost: $5 drop in, or free with fitness pass purchase.

Join this new walking group that is part of the Arthritis Foundation program.

Vision Forum (all ages)

Free and open to the public.

This annual workshop and conference is for the visually impaired and their families. Meet others who
have low vision, meet vendors who provide services for the visually impaired, and participate in a variety
of workshops.

Causes of the Civil War Lecture Series (ages 50+)
Fridays, March 6-27, 9-11 a.m. Advance registration required.

This four-week series will discuss the following topics: The Transportation Revolution, American System
of Manufacture, The Mexican War and Changing the American Political Scene. Registration opens Feb.

Dana Point Festival of Whales Trip (ages 50+)
Saturday, March 14, 4 a.m. to midnight. Advance registration required.
Cost: $90.

Each year, thousands of whales migrate by the coast at Dana Point. This year we will celebrate the
migration at the annual Festival of Whales, complete with games, concerts on land and water, classic
car exhibits, food (including the clam chowder cook-off), and our own Whale Watching Excursion. Please
bring additional money for food and souvenirs, binoculars, and warm clothes for the draft that comes in
off the shore.

Las Vegas Senior Idol Showcase Audition Packets Available (ages 50+)
Beginning April 1.
Las Vegas Senior Center, 451 E. Bonanza Road, 702-229-6454.
Pick up your audition application packet and plan to audition as an individual or group in dance, singing,
comedy, musical instruments and more for the annual Las Vegas Senior Idol Talent Showcase. Call 702-
229-6454 for an application packet, available starting April 1. Once your completed packet is received
you will receive an invitation to audition with a date and time. Auditions will be scheduled May 5-7. The
show will be held Thursday, June 11.
