Ms. Shenal will participate in a Preview, Gallery Talk and Artist Reception on Thursday, September 21, at 6 p.m. in the Artspace Gallery on the North Las Vegas Campus.

The College of Southern Nevada Department of Fine Arts will host an exhibition of environmentally based photographs by University of Arizona, Tucson, Associate Professor of Photography, Martina Shenal. Shenal’s work explores the literal and metaphorical boundaries of human intervention in the landscape that protect as well as isolate. “Martina Shenal: Secondary Nature” will begin Friday, September 22 and will run through Saturday, November 4, 2017.
Martina Shenal earned her Masters of Fine Arts Degree from Arizona State University in Tempe and her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus. Her professional work has received numerous grants and fellowships including a Western States Art Federation National Endowment for the Arts Regional Fellowship in New Genres, a Visual Art Fellowship from the Tennessee Arts Commission, two Professional Development Grants from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, and a Contemporary Forum Artists Material Grant from the Phoenix Art Museum. Shenal has had solo exhibitions of her work at Place M Gallery in Tokyo, Japan, Whittier College, California, University of Tennessee-Chattanooga, State University of New York-Brockport, UC Berkeley Extension Gallery, California, and the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, Arizona.
The CSN Artspace Gallery is free and open to the public. Gallery hours are from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Artspace Gallery is upstairs above the main entrance lobby on the North Las Vegas campus located at 3200 E. Cheyenne Avenue, one-mile East of I-15 North.
