New Outreach Program for Senior Citizens
Seniors can participate in new programming throughout the month of June offered by The Mob Museum, The National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement. These educational outreach programs enhance the Museum’s existing community initiatives by meeting specific needs in its immediate neighborhoods and beyond.
Created to improve the quality of life for low-income seniors, nearly 20 free multimedia presentations will take place this month at community locations regularly visited and easily accessed by this population. Utilizing Museum objects, Museum educators will encourage interaction and dialogue among the participants. Addressing Las Vegas’ Mob history from the 1950s to the 1980s, the presentations were designed to elicit personal recollections of that era from the participants. As a result of the first presentations, Museum educators have already collected intriguing firsthand stories from attendees and received expressions of interest from them in becoming volunteers.
