Providence Community to Host Free Going Green Earth Day Event
April 21 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Join the Providence Master Planned Community during its Going Green Earth Day Celebration in observance of the annual international Earth Day. The free family-friendly event combines a clean-up and fun and interactive environmental-related activities and will be on Saturday, April 21 at Huckleberry Park, located at 10325 Farm Rd.
The day begins with a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) clean-up in the desert area west of Providence from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., followed by festivities at Huckleberry Park from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be music, games, special animal show, and a toddler play yard and kids section with an inflatable bungee run, obstacle course and interactive games. Other activities will include a power workout and yoga by Kaia FIT, gardening demonstrations for salad and salsa for kids and adults by Star Nursery, free shredding by Opportunity Village, and a ladybug release to close the event. Frozen Frog, Soul Food Café Express, 50 Shades of Green and Fusion Beastro food trucks will have food items for sale.
The Birdman Show is a fun and educational zoo-type show combining comedy and an eagle, condor and 15-foot snake. It presents information about the importance of predators for rodent control as an alternative to using poisons which can seep into the ground and affect crops.
In addition, a variety of community partners will have information and giveaway items. Attendees can pick up a passport at the Providence Master Association table. Those who visit all the partners and have their passport stamped will have a chance to win a gift basket.
