“Louie” was born in De Kalb, Mississippi, and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. His career as a professional civil engineer led him to Alaska to work on the Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline and to Chicago, Illinois, as general manager of the company that built the power plant for the McCormick Place Convention Center, the largest convention center in the United States. Overstreet is the recipient of 50 community service awards, and was inducted into Ohio University’s Russ College of Engineering & Technology Academy of Distinguished Graduates in 2006. He received the Ohio University Alumni Association Medal of Merit Award in 2011. In-depth discussions will include topics such as racism’s impact on the African-American family, the “missed” education of the Negro, missing the boat of economic opportunity, crime in black face, and much more.
