Madrigal Dinner at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN) NOV. 16 & 17
Celebrate the Holiday Season with Kings, Queens, Knights & Jesters
Step back in time to the regal pageantry and ceremonial pomp of Ye Merrie Olde England as CSN’s Department of Fine Arts hosts a Madrigal Dinner in “Castle Horn” at the Cheyenne campus. The event will be held Thursday, November 16 and Friday, November 17, with the arrival of guests from 6:30 to 6:45 p.m.; guests will be announced at 6:45 p.m.; and the opening fanfare and processional begin at 7:00 p.m. Activities include the serving of a three-course meal, with serenading and holiday carols performed by The Chamber Chorale.
Dr. Mark Wherry, Director of Vocal Music at the college, is coordinating the activities and working with more than 30 music students on this special presentation.
“This is an exciting undertaking for us,” says Wherry. “There is an incredible amount of rehearsal required as this is much more involved than a typical choral concert. Our students really enjoy the variety of music and being able to experience the dancing and theatrical elements that are entwined in a madrigal performance.”
“The stage of the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre will be transformed into a medieval castle and, as the performers will be in Renaissance costume, we invite our patrons to do the same.”
Entertainment during the evening also includes a sparkling toast of wassail and the procession of litter bearers with the traditional boar’s head.
Admission for the Madrigal Dinner is $25 per person. Advance reservations are required. Please call the CSN Ticket Office at 651-LIVE (5483) or buy tickets online at: www.csn.edu/pac.
The CSN Performing Arts Center, providing quality artistic, cultural, educational, and entertainment opportunities for the college and the community, is located at 3200 E. Cheyenne Avenue in North Las Vegas.
