If you didn’t rock a mullet, wear Wranglers or have a giant belt buckle, did you even listen to country music in the ’80s? Good thing Sawyer Brown is in town to school you youngsters on what real country music is all about.

If we had to draw a country band, Sawyer Brown would be our stencil. These dudes have it all. Formed in 1981, they had the look, the sound and the hits that every other artist wanted. “Some Girls Do,” “Step That Step” and “The Dirt Road” are just a few of the tunes that took these guys from a tiny town in Florida to travelin’ the world. All that success helped them pick up some hardware, too. From 1993 to 1998 they literally won every TNN/Music City News Country Music Awards “Vocal Band of the Year” award. We vote to rename the award, “The Sawyer Brown Award.” Your move, TNN/Music City News.

Not sure if there’s enough time for everyone to grow a mullet for the concert. But if wear your Wranglers and get your belt buckle really shiny, maybe we’ll talk to Sawyer Brown about not giving you a hard time.
