This empowering event will provide women with an opportunity to experience expert speakers from various fields in the areas of health and wellness, family and self-sufficiency. In pursuit of health and healing, a series of specialized workshops will be offered throughout the event to create and sustain harmony. A special film screening of “In Our Heads About Our Hair” is included, produced by natural hair industry pioneer Anu Prestonia. The film is co-produced by educator Paulette Tabb and journalist Maitefa Angaza and directed and edited by Hemamset Angaza. A communal dialogue will follow the film to examine the issues black women confront regarding hair and self-esteem, facilitated by Tabb and Maitefa Angaza. The focus of this conference is the family and all sessions will be solutions-based. Women are asked to wear comfortable active wear for ease and confidence to participate in the workshops. Each woman is encouraged to bring another. The event is co-sponsored by the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, West Las Vegas Library and W.E.S.T.
