Writing and Performing Poetry Using the Charles Bukowski Method
Monday, October 17 – 7 p.m
Jewel Box Theater
Join us for a poetry workshop to study the works of famed skid row poet Charles Bukowski and compose an original poem using Bukowski’s “don’t try” method of finding inspiration by understanding your own emotions and then simply writing about them. Lee Mallory, a California English professor who studied with Bukowski and Beat Generation poet Kenneth Rexroth, will lead you through the Bukowski methodology, critique your work and coach you on the open mic.
