Park Layout and Wayfinding

Cornerstone Park is arranged around a central water feature with walking paths, exercise areas, open grass, shelters, courts, public art, restrooms, parking areas, and reservable gathering spaces.

Entrances and parking areas may serve different portions of the park. Visitors meeting a group should confirm the pavilion, shelter, court, plaza, trail, or gathering location before arriving.

Allow time to walk between parking, the lake, exercise stairs, courts, picnic shelters, Corporate Plaza Area, and restrooms.

Construction fencing, maintenance work, private reservations, temporary equipment, or city programs may change ordinary routes.

Lake Rules and Wildlife Viewing

The lake is maintained as an aesthetic water feature and wildlife habitat. Visitors may view and photograph it from authorized park areas.

Fishing is prohibited. Visitors may not swim, wade, launch a boat, kayak, canoe, paddleboard, raft, model boat, or use the water for another recreational activity.

Remain on authorized paths and public areas. Do not enter reeds, protected landscaping, maintenance areas, steep shorelines, or fenced locations.

Feeding birds or other animals is prohibited. Bread, seed, popcorn, pet food, and other food can disrupt wildlife behavior and park conditions.

Water levels, vegetation, wildlife activity, algae, odors, and shoreline conditions can vary by season and maintenance cycle.

Walking, Exercise, and Recreation

The park includes walking routes, an exercise course, exercise stairs, open grass areas, benches, and scenic lake views.

Visitors use the park for walking, jogging, outdoor fitness, photography, bird observation, casual recreation, and social gatherings.

Exercise equipment and stairs should be used according to posted instructions. Keep landings, handrails, paths, and emergency routes clear.

Outdoor surfaces may become hot, wet, dusty, slippery, or temporarily unavailable. Use additional caution during extreme heat, rain, wind, darkness, and maintenance work.

Basketball and Volleyball Courts

Cornerstone Park currently lists a basketball court and volleyball courts among its amenities.

Court use may be first-come, first-served unless reserved or assigned to a city program. Organized leagues, lessons, tournaments, amplified sound, or commercial activity may require approval.

Court lighting, when available, shuts off by 10:00 p.m. under current City of Henderson park rules.

Players should bring appropriate equipment and water. Do not attach nets, signs, tents, or other items to city property without authorization.

Picnic Shelters, Pavilions, and Open Grass

The park contains pavilions, picnic shelters, picnic tables, open grass, a Corporate Plaza Area, and a warming kitchen.

Unreserved picnic areas may be available on a first-come, first-served basis. A posted or confirmed reservation takes priority over casual use.

Only charcoal is permitted in permanent park barbecue grills under current city guidance. Open fires are prohibited.

Propane grills, tents, staking, amplified sound, food distribution, vendors, inflatables, stages, generators, and similar equipment may require permission or may be restricted.

Remove decorations, food, charcoal, pet waste, and trash before leaving. Do not attach materials to trees, shelters, signs, railings, public art, or other park property.

Reservations and Organized Events

Pavilions, shelters, the Corporate Plaza Area, warming kitchen, and other eligible spaces may be reserved through the City of Henderson.

An online inquiry or submitted application does not guarantee a space, date, permit, equipment, staffing, electricity, kitchen access, or exclusive use.

The city may require information about attendance, food, vendors, amplified sound, tents, generators, alcohol, security, insurance, photography, parking, cleanup, and accessibility.

Event layouts must preserve fire lanes, pedestrian paths, accessible routes, restrooms, shoreline controls, emergency access, and ordinary public-park operations.

Phase II Construction and Future Amenities

The City of Henderson is improving underdeveloped portions of the north and east sides of Cornerstone Park.

Phase 2A plans include swing benches, a shaded picnic area, and a fitness course. Additional proposed features for a later northern section include a dog park, playground, restrooms, parking, a small amphitheater or gathering area, and skate elements.

Do not assume that a planned feature is open until the city confirms completion and public availability.

Construction may cause temporary fencing, noise, dust, equipment traffic, parking changes, path detours, or restricted access.

Pets and Wildlife

Pets must remain on a leash except in an officially posted designated area. Owners are responsible for collecting and disposing of pet waste.

A future dog park appears in the park’s Phase II concept, but it should not be described as an operating amenity until the City of Henderson confirms that it is open.

Keep pets away from wildlife, protected vegetation, athletic activity, picnic food, and the lake shoreline.

Do not feed birds or other animals. Do not release domestic animals, fish, turtles, or other wildlife into the park.

Drone and Unmanned-Aircraft Use

The City of Henderson currently identifies Cornerstone Park as an approved unmanned-aircraft location.

That designation does not eliminate federal, state, local, safety, privacy, airspace, event, or temporary flight restrictions.

Operators must remain clear of crowds, wildlife, roads, buildings, power infrastructure, emergency activity, construction zones, private events, and restricted park areas.

Commercial filming, organized drone activity, or equipment that affects ordinary park use may require additional city authorization.

Parking and Passenger Drop-Off

Cornerstone Park provides public-use parking in designated areas near its recreation and gathering spaces.

Parking availability may be reduced by Phase II construction, pavilion reservations, sports activity, community programs, maintenance, and weekend use.

Use legal marked spaces. Do not park in fire lanes, loading zones, construction areas, landscape areas, accessible spaces without authorization, or spaces assigned to nearby private property.

Passenger loading must not block sidewalks, trail entrances, accessible routes, maintenance access, or emergency circulation.

Accessibility and Guest Assistance

Cornerstone Park includes paved routes and public recreation areas, but accessibility may differ by entrance, parking space, trail section, shelter, court, restroom, exercise feature, grass area, and event setup.

Visitors who need a step-free route, accessible parking, restroom information, wheelchair space, service-animal accommodation, or accessible reserved setup should contact the City of Henderson before visiting.

Exercise stairs, grass, gravel, shoreline areas, temporary detours, construction zones, and some informal viewing areas may not provide the same access as paved routes.

Reservations and organized events must keep accessible paths, shelter entrances, tables, restrooms, and parking connections unobstructed.
