Engage assists with general notarizations, estate and trust signings, business documents, vehicle paperwork, loan-signing assignments and other documents requiring an acknowledgment, jurat, oath, affirmation or permissible copy certification.

The notary’s role is to identify the signer, confirm willingness and awareness, administer an oath when required and complete the appropriate notarial certificate. The signer or document recipient must determine which notarial act is needed before the appointment.

Nevada Notary Fees and Mobile Travel Charges

Nevada law sets maximum fees for standard in-person notarial acts. Engage Notary currently publishes the following rates:

• Acknowledgment: $15 for the first signature of each signer on each document.
• Additional acknowledgment signature: $7.50 for each additional signature of that same signer.
• Jurat: $15 for each signature on the affidavit.
• Oath or affirmation: $7.50 per person.
• Certified copy: $7.50 per certificate for documents Nevada notaries are permitted to copy-certify.

Travel fees are additional. Nevada law permits a mobile notary to charge an agreed travel fee when the customer asks the notary to travel, the fee is explained as separate from the statutory notarial charge and the customer agrees to the rate in advance.

Engage currently publishes these mobile travel rates:

• 6:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.: $15 per hour with a two-hour minimum.
• 7:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m.: $30 per hour with a two-hour minimum.
• After the minimum: Travel time may be prorated according to the company’s current policy.

The total appointment cost can also depend on the number of signers, documents, signatures, notarial acts, location, time of day, waiting time and any non-notarial service requested. Obtain a complete quote before confirming the appointment.

Current community specials: Engage Notary separately advertises half-price travel fees for eligible active-duty military members, veterans, CCSD teachers and seniors age 60 or older. Proof of eligibility is required. Confirm whether that discount can be combined with the Vegas4Locals offer.

How to Prepare for a Mobile Notary Appointment

1. Bring the correct document: Engage Notary does not prepare legal forms or determine which document you need.
2. Complete the document: Fill in all required information but do not sign or date any line that must be completed in front of the notary.
3. Know the required notarial act: Ask the document recipient or an attorney whether you need an acknowledgment, jurat, oath, affirmation or another act.
4. Bring acceptable identification: Each signer should have current government-issued photo identification that satisfies Nevada requirements.
5. Match the names: The name on the identification should reasonably correspond to the name shown on the document.
6. Arrange all required people: Signers and any required witnesses must be present at the scheduled appointment.
7. Choose neutral witnesses: A required witness should be an eligible adult who does not benefit from the document and is not disqualified by the document’s rules.
8. Confirm the quote: Review notary fees, travel charges, deposit requirements and the accepted payment methods before the appointment.
9. Provide a safe workspace: Arrange a clean, well-lit surface where documents can be reviewed, signed, stamped and entered into the notary journal.
10. Secure pets: Engage asks customers to keep pets away from the appointment area.

Engage Notary may refuse a notarization when identification is insufficient, a document is incomplete, a signer appears unwilling or unaware, communication is ineffective, fraud or coercion is suspected or the requested act would violate Nevada law.

Q: What does a notary public do?
A: A notary verifies identity, confirms willingness and awareness, witnesses or acknowledges signatures when required, administers oaths or affirmations and completes an authorized notarial certificate.

Q: Does notarization make a document legally binding?
A: Not necessarily. Notarization helps authenticate a signature or sworn statement, but the legal validity and enforceability of the document depend on its contents and applicable law.

Q: Can the notary tell me which certificate I need?
A: No. The signer, document recipient or attorney must identify the required notarial act. A notary cannot make that legal decision for the customer.

Q: Should documents be signed before the appointment?
A: Do not sign a jurat or any document requiring the signature to be witnessed until the notary is present. An acknowledgment may involve a previously signed document, but the signer must personally acknowledge the signature to the notary.

Q: Must the signer appear before the notary?
A: Yes. For an ordinary in-person notarization, the person whose signature is notarized must personally appear before the notary. A separate witness cannot appear in place of an absent signer except under a specific legally authorized procedure.

Q: What identification is required?
A: Bring an original, current government-issued photo ID acceptable under Nevada law. Photocopies are not accepted.

Q: Can Engage Notary provide or complete legal documents?
A: No. Customers must provide the correct completed documents. A notary who is not an attorney cannot prepare legal documents or advise customers how to complete them.

Q: Can a notary give legal advice?

Q: Are jail or prison appointments available?

Q: What happens if the appointment is canceled?
