The Prohibition-Era Speakeasy
The Speakeasy recreates a hidden 1920s drinking establishment with period-inspired design, historical photographs, artifacts, exhibits, and cocktail service. The bar offers cocktails along with other alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and food selections.
Menus, drink selections, food offerings, and special programs change over time, so guests planning around a particular item or experience should use the current Underground information.
Working Distillery and Tasting Experience
The Underground includes a working distillery centered on a copper still used to produce The Mob Museum’s house moonshine. Exhibits in the distillery explore bootlegging, rumrunning, medicinal alcohol, and government enforcement during Prohibition.
The Distillery Tasting is a separate experience rather than ordinary speakeasy access. Participants must be at least 13 years old, while the alcohol-sampling portion is restricted to guests age 21 or older.
Speakeasy Entry and Age Rules
Guests can reach The Underground through The Mob Museum with museum admission or use the separate speakeasy entrance under the venue’s current entry procedure. Ordinary speakeasy visits do not normally require a ticket or reservation, although private events, early closures, and capacity can affect access.
Before 5:00 p.m., guests of all ages may walk through the Speakeasy and view The Underground exhibits, but only guests age 21 or older may be seated and use the food and beverage service. After 5:00 p.m., Speakeasy access is restricted to guests age 21 or older.
Live Music and Private Events
The Underground hosts changing live music and other special programs in its speakeasy setting. Performers, schedules, admission, seating, and event conditions depend on the individual program.
The Underground also accommodates private gatherings and organized events using its speakeasy, distillery, and related spaces. Event layouts, food and beverage service, entertainment, and availability depend on the individual booking.
Parking and Accessibility
Paid parking is available at The Mob Museum, with additional Downtown parking available nearby when the museum lot is full.
The Mob Museum provides designated accessible parking west of the building, a lift at the front entrance, and elevator access to each floor, including the basement containing The Underground.
