Moving to Las Vegas? This is how to set up all of your utilities.

Whether you’re settling in Summerlin, Henderson, North Las Vegas, or the surrounding valley, this comprehensive checklist helps new residents quickly set up electricity, water, trash, gas, internet, and home phone service. Here’s everything you need to get connected on day one.

🔑 Pro-Tip: When to Schedule Your Services

When scheduling services, it’s essential to factor in the time required to reach a home with no utilities available.

  • Internet & Gas (Tech Visit Required): Call 7–14 days before your move-in date.
  • Electricity & Water (Same-Day/Next-Day): Call 1–3 days before your move-in date.
  • If selling your home, keep utility accounts active until the house has passed inspection.

  • Henderson & North Las Vegas: Sewer service is handled and billed by the respective city utility department, along with your water.
  • Las Vegas/Unincorporated Clark County: Sewer/wastewater is managed by the Clark County Water Reclamation District (CCWRD). You will receive an annual or quarterly bill automatically.

When establishing service with NV Energy (Electric) and Southwest Gas:

  • The deposit with NV Energy cannot exceed 1.5x the estimated Average Monthly Bill until the deposit has been paid in at least three (3) equal installments.

When establishing service with LVVWD (Water) as a Residential Customer:

  • LVVWD typically charges a $150.00 deposit per meter, with two equal payments due on the first two billing statements.
  • In addition to a deposit, LVVWD will waive the deposit requirement for customers who enroll in Automatic Payments and/or submit a Letter of Good Credit from their previous utility provider.

💧 Mandatory Watering Rules (Southern Nevada Water Authority)

Due to ongoing drought conditions, Southern Nevada enforces mandatory, year-round watering restrictions. It is the resident’s responsibility to know their assigned watering group and follow the rules to avoid fines.

👉 Find Your Watering Group Schedule: Check your assigned watering days on the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) website immediately after moving in.

🌱 For tips on maintaining your desert landscape efficiently, see our guide: Las Vegas Energy and Water Saving Tips.

Key Rules to Remember:

  • Your lawn/turf is limited to one to three assigned watering days per week, depending on the season. Watering on Sundays is always prohibited.
  • Outdoor sprinkler watering is prohibited between 11:00 am and 7:00 pm from May 1 through August 31.
  • Use the “cycle and soak” method for sprinklers: water for 4 minutes 3 times a day, with at least an hour break in between.
