Coordinated Entry: Assessment for Longer-Term Housing

Important distinction: Emergency shelter and Coordinated Entry are not the same. You do not need a Coordinated Entry assessment to seek emergency shelter. Coordinated Entry assesses people experiencing a housing crisis for available housing programs; an assessment does not guarantee immediate housing.

Call 211 for the latest shelter availability and intake instructions. Adults may also contact the Courtyard, which operates as a 24-hour low-barrier resource center. Capacity and services can change.

Does Coordinated Entry provide a shelter bed?

Not necessarily. Coordinated Entry is an assessment and prioritization process for housing programs. Emergency shelters can be contacted without first completing Coordinated Entry.

Where can a family with children get help?

Call 211 and contact Family Promise, HopeLink, HELP of Southern Nevada, or Las Vegas Rescue Mission. Each program has its own eligibility and intake process.

Where can youth get help?

Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth supports minors and young people; Shannon West serves young adults ages 18–24. Youth under 18 can call Safe Place at 1-866-827-3723.

What should someone bring to intake?

Bring identification if available, medications, essential documents, a phone charger, and referral information. Do not delay asking for help if documents are missing; ask the provider what alternatives are accepted.

Can someone keep a pet at a shelter?
