The Las Vegas Natural History Museum, formally known as the Las Vegas Science & Natural History Museum, is an educational attraction just north of Downtown Las Vegas.
Its galleries cover dinosaurs, fossils, marine life, Nevada wildlife, animals from around the world, geology, ancient Egypt, and hands-on science. Visitors explore the indoor museum at their own pace.

What You Can See at the Museum
Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Life

Plan Your Museum Visit
- Hours: Open daily from 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Typical Visit: Allow approximately one to two hours.

Holiday Hours and Closures
The museum opens at 11:00 a.m. on New Year’s Day. It is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and the last Saturday in September for the annual Dinosaur Ball fundraiser.
Food and Drinks
Food, soda, alcohol, and other beverages are not permitted in exhibit areas. Water is allowed in a securely closed container.

Is the museum suitable for young children?
Yes. Dinosaurs, sharks, wildlife scenes, glowing minerals, ancient Egypt displays, and hands-on science activities offer plenty for younger visitors to explore.
Are live animals displayed?
The Marine Life Gallery includes a shark tank. Selected programs may also include animal encounters or touch-tank activities.
Can visitors see the museum’s research lab?
Visitors may be able to observe paleontologists and researchers working with fossils when the Richard A. Ditton Learning Lab is open and the research team is present.
