Get ready to sway to the rhythm of hula skirts and feel the warm breeze on your face at the Lei Day Parade in Downtown Summerlin! On May 1, the streets will burst with color as locals and visitors alike gather to celebrate Hawaiian culture.
The parade will start at 6 p.m. along Park Centre Drive, and its purpose is to celebrate the rich heritage of the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands. The parade will feature local Halaus and Polynesian Dance Companies, such as the Nani ola Hawaiian Dance Company, Na hula o kaleiokapualani, and the Tevakanui Polynesian Dance Company. You can expect various performances during the festive parade, including the Ancient Hula Kahiko accompanied by a chanter telling the story, the free-flowing modern style of Hula Auana, the passion and pride of the Māori Haka, the rapid hip-shaking movements of the Tahitian Dances, and more!
Come and share in the Aloha Spirit and celebrate! You will see floats decorated with tropical flowers, each telling a story of island life. From plumerias to orchids, the vibrant blooms will evoke the spirit of aloha.
As the parade winds through the palm-lined streets, you will hear the melodic strumming of ukuleles and the rhythmic beat of drums. Families will cheer as they catch candy tossed from passing floats, and everyone will share in the joy of community.
Don your favorite lei, grab your sunglasses, and join us for a day of sun-soaked festivities. Whether you’re a lei-making pro or a first-timer, this parade promises a “lei-tastic” time!
