Celebrate the Silver State’s birthday during the 2026 Nevada Day Parade and surrounding festivities in Carson City. This year’s “Pumpkins, Pioneers and Tall Tales” celebration brings marching bands, elaborate floats, equestrian groups, historical displays, hot-air balloons, vendors, contests, live entertainment, and family activities to Nevada’s capital.

The main parade takes place Saturday, October 31, 2026, but Nevada Day activities begin earlier in October and continue through the weekend.

About the Nevada Day Parade

The Nevada Day Parade is one of the Silver State’s biggest annual celebrations. It commemorates Nevada becoming the 36th state on October 31, 1864, earning its enduring “Battle Born” nickname.

The 2026 parade will travel through downtown Carson City with marching bands, floats, equestrian groups, community organizations, historical displays, Burning Man art cars, performers, and other Nevada-themed entries.

Steven Saylor will serve as the 2026 Grand Marshal. The longtime Nevada-based creative professional, arts educator, and nonprofit leader has spent more than 50 years supporting Nevada culture, historic preservation, education, and community organizations.

Nevada Day Parade Day Schedule

The following activities are scheduled for Saturday, October 31. Times, locations, weather-dependent activities, and availability may change.

6:00 a.m. – Coffee and Balloons

Start parade day near Carson Mall with coffee, mimosas, and views of colorful hot-air balloons preparing for the morning launch. Arrive early for the best viewing opportunities.

7:00–9:30 a.m. – Metcalf Way Breakfast Buffet

Red’s Old 395 Grill, located at 1055 S. Carson Street, will serve pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and other breakfast favorites. Tickets are listed at $8 in advance or $10 at the door, with proceeds supporting Nevada Day activities.

8:00 a.m. – Nevada Day Balloon Launch

The official balloon launch begins with the national anthem near Carson Mall. Flights are expected to last approximately one hour, weather permitting. Public viewing is free.

8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. – Nevada Day Vendors

Local artists, makers, and businesses will fill the downtown corridor along Carson Street between Robinson and Proctor streets.

8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. – Kid Market and Adventure Zone

The family activity area at the 200 S. Curry Street parking lot will feature local vendors and children’s activities. Some attractions may require the purchase of an activity bracelet.

9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. – Carson Mall Festivities

Carson Mall will host live music, craft and merchandise booths, food vendors, a car show, a cornhole challenge, and family activities throughout the day.

10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. – Nevada Day Parade

The main Nevada Day Parade begins at William Street and North Carson Street. It travels south through Carson City and concludes near Stewart Street and South Carson Street.

10:30 a.m. – Single Jack Drilling Contest

Competitors use hammers and steel bits to drill into Sierra white granite during this historic competition honoring Nevada’s mining heritage. The official schedule places the contest near the Nevada Day Gift Shop on Curry Street.

Noon–2:00 p.m. – Nevada Day Chili Feed

The annual Chili Feed will take place inside the Carson Nugget’s Sierra Room. Complimentary tickets are limited and are expected to become available at the Carson Nugget Winners Club beginning at 10:00 a.m. This activity is restricted to guests age 21 and older.

2:00–4:00 p.m. – Governor’s Mansion Open House

Governor and First Lady Lombardo will welcome visitors to the Nevada Governor’s Mansion for an afternoon open house.

Afternoon – Capital City Community Band

The Capital City Community Band will perform at the Legislative Amphitheater following the parade. The free, family-friendly concert will celebrate the band’s history and America’s 250th anniversary. Guests may bring chairs or sit on the Capitol lawn.

3:00–5:00 p.m. – Foreman-Roberts House Museum Open House

Visit the historic Foreman-Roberts House Museum at 1207 N. Carson Street for costumed, docent-led tours exploring the people and stories that shaped Carson City.

3:00–6:00 p.m. – Post-Parade Celebration

Continue the celebration around Telegraph Square and West Proctor Street with live music, food and drink vendors, children’s activities, and a beer garden. Admission is free, although food and drinks are sold separately.


Parade Route and Viewing Tips

The parade begins at William Street and North Carson Street before traveling south through downtown Carson City. It concludes at Stewart Street and South Carson Street.

  • Arrive well before the 10:00 a.m. start to find a viewing location.
  • Expect road closures, altered traffic patterns, and limited downtown parking.
  • Dress in layers for changing Northern Nevada weather.
  • Bring folding chairs if permitted in your selected viewing area.
