Driverless Taxis Are Now Part of Las Vegas Transportation
Las Vegas now has a public driverless taxi service, with more autonomous ride-hailing on the way. Zoox offers fully driverless robotaxi rides on and around the Strip, while Waymo is preparing to open its Las Vegas service to the public.
Zoox and Waymo take different approaches. Zoox built its vehicle from the ground up as a robotaxi, with no steering wheel or traditional driver’s seat. Waymo uses passenger vehicles equipped with its autonomous-driving system.

Driverless Taxi Services in Las Vegas
Zoox — Available Now
Status: Public driverless rides are available in Las Vegas.
Zoox launched public robotaxi service in Las Vegas in September 2025. Its purpose-built vehicle operates without a steering wheel or pedals and is designed around passengers rather than a human driver.
Zoox now offers paid rides in Las Vegas. Use the Zoox app to see current pickup and drop-off locations, availability, and the fare for your trip before requesting a ride.
Waymo — Coming Soon
Status: Preparing for public service.
Waymo currently lists Las Vegas as an upcoming market. Its Las Vegas rollout is expected to begin with fully autonomous rider-only trips for employees before rides open to the general public.
The initial employee program is expected to include the greater Las Vegas area and the Las Vegas Strip. A final public launch date and public service-area map have not yet been announced.
How to Ride Zoox in Las Vegas
Zoox rides are requested through the Zoox app.
- Download the Zoox app and create an account.
- Open the app to see available Las Vegas pickup and drop-off locations.
- Select your destination and review the trip details and fare.
- Follow the app to the designated pickup area.
- Identify your assigned robotaxi and board when prompted.
Where Zoox Goes
Zoox serves selected resorts, attractions, entertainment destinations, and event areas on and around the Las Vegas Strip. Pickup and drop-off points are generally located in designated ride-hail zones rather than at any curb a rider chooses.
The service area continues to change as Zoox expands. Check the app for the current locations available for your trip instead of relying on a static destination list.

Zoox now charges for public rides in Las Vegas. The app provides the current fare and trip details before you request a ride.
Because fares and service conditions can change, use the app rather than an older published price when planning a trip.
Does Zoox Go to Harry Reid International Airport?
Zoox has been testing autonomous vehicles at Harry Reid International Airport and preparing for future airport service. Regular public airport service has not yet been announced as available, so do not plan on a Zoox airport ride unless the app shows it as an option for your trip.

Zoox looks and feels different from a conventional taxi, Uber, or Lyft vehicle because it was designed specifically for autonomous transportation.

- Passenger controls for features such as climate and audio
The entire cabin is devoted to the passenger experience because there is no driver’s area.
What to Expect From Waymo
Waymo’s approach is more familiar to riders because its autonomous technology is installed on passenger-vehicle platforms rather than a carriage-style robotaxi like Zoox.
Waymo has not yet opened general public Las Vegas service. When it does, its app will be the best source for the current service area, pickup options, availability, and fares.
Planning Your Driverless Taxi Ride
Driverless Taxis vs. Uber, Lyft and Regular Taxis
A robotaxi removes the human driver, but the basic ride-hailing process remains familiar. You request a trip, meet the vehicle at an approved pickup point, ride to your destination, and exit at the designated drop-off area.

First-Ride Tips
- Check the app before leaving. Service areas, pickup zones, fares, and availability can change.
- Go to the assigned pickup point. A robotaxi may not be able to stop at an arbitrary curb.
- Allow a little extra time on your first ride. Finding an unfamiliar pickup zone can take a few minutes.
- Follow the vehicle and app instructions. Board only the robotaxi assigned to your trip.
- Buckle up. Normal passenger safety rules still apply.
- Keep another transportation option in mind. Robotaxi service does not yet cover every Las Vegas trip.
