Street buskers performing for visitors on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas

Fremont Street Experience: Meet the Buskers

To anyone who has ever taken a stroll through the Fremont Street Experience in Downtown Las Vegas, chances are good you’ve seen street performers entertaining visitors. Known as buskers, these performers add energy, color, and unpredictability to one of the most iconic pedestrian streets in the world. You never really know what you’ll see — Elvis impersonators, showgirls, drummers, dancers, superheroes, costumed characters, and creative acts of every kind. It’s one of the most unique free things to do in Las Vegas, and the lineup changes daily.

Buskers perform every day from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.

Tipping the Buskers: What Visitors Should Know

Fremont Street’s buskers are independent performers. They do not work for the casinos, the Fremont Street Experience, or the City of Las Vegas. They earn their income directly from tips given by visitors who enjoy their act, take photos with them, or appreciate the entertainment they provide.

While tipping is never mandatory, it is considered polite — and strongly encouraged — if you stop to watch a performance, take a picture, or interact with a costumed character. Buskers rely on these contributions to support their craft and cover the costs of costumes, props, makeup, and long hours on the street.

How Much Should You Tip?

  • Photo with a performer: $1–$5 is typical
  • Watching a full performance: $2–$10 depending on length and quality
  • Premium costumes or elaborate acts: $5–$20+ (common for showgirls, superheroes, and specialty characters)

If you’re unsure, follow the local rule of thumb: If you stop, watch, or take a photo — tip something.

How do buskers sign up to perform on Fremont Street?

To perform on Fremont Street, buskers must register through the City of Las Vegas. Performers can sign up online via the city’s Street Performer Portal or in person at the Downtown Law Enforcement Substation located at 425 Fremont St., near the stairs to SlotZilla.
