Exploring Las Vegas City Hall Art Galleries

Las Vegas offers a hidden gem for art enthusiasts at the heart of its municipal center. Nestled within the corridors of Las Vegas City Hall are two public art galleries. Each offers a unique glimpse into the local art scene and cultural heritage. The Grand Gallery and the Chamber Gallery promise a captivating journey through the creative expressions of talented local artists.

The Grand Gallery: A Celebration of Sculptural Ingenuity

As you step into the lobby area of City Hall, you’re greeted by an array of striking sculptures that adorn the space with their creative allure. The Grand Gallery serves as a platform for local sculptors to showcase their talent and ingenuity. The renowned Bobbie Ann Howell is currently hosting and curating an exhibition entitled “Created in Paper and Everyday Materials.” The artworks showcased in the exhibition have been created utilizing recycled and repurposed materials such as paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, and wood. The sculptures created from these materials are not only sustainable but also offer viewers a unique and refreshing perspective on creativity.

The Chamber Gallery: A Tapestry of Two-Dimensional Mastery

Ascending to the second floor of City Hall, you’ll discover the Chamber Gallery, nestled beside the City Council Chamber. The walls come alive with a diverse array of two-dimensional artworks that reflect the rich tapestry of local culture and history—currently showcasing the “African American Heritage Exhibition 2024,” curated by Joseph Watson. This collection pays homage to the inspirational Black experience. Featuring artists such as Lucky Wenzel, Mike Kelley, Drae, Q’Shaundra James, and many more, the exhibition invites visitors to delve into the depth and diversity of African American heritage.
